In London, Iris Simpkins writes wedding columns in a newspaper and loves her colleague Jasper Blooms which is one sided. Nearby Christmas she comes to know that Jasper is engaged to marry another colleague which turns her world upside down. In Los Angeles, the movie-trailers maker Amanda Woods has just broken with her unfaithful boyfriend Ethan and wants to forget him. Thus these two girls who have their hearts broken over guys meets each other on an house exchange websites and they plan to exchange their houses (Amanda’s Mansion to be exchanged for Iris’s small Rose Hill Cottage) and move away from people who have hurt them for sometime.
Meanwhile Iris meet her new next door neighbor in Los Angeles, the ninety year old screenplay writer Arthur, who helps her to retrieve her self-esteem, and the film composer Miles, and they fall in love for each other. Amanda is charmed by Iris’ handsome brother Graham and falls in love with him.
